On the morning of May 21, 2026, the People’s Committee of Nghe An Province coordinated with the Vietnam Airlines Corporation (Vietnam Airlines) to organize the Signing Ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding on the Comprehensive Cooperation Program between the two sides for the 2026–2030 period. On the side of Nghe An province, the ceremony was attended by Comrade Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee (PPC) Thai Van Thanh, along with leaders of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and leaders of relevant Departments, sectors, and units.
On the side of Vietnam Airlines, there were Mr. Nguyen Quang Trung – Deputy General Director of Vietnam Airlines, along with leaders of Vietnam Airlines Vinh Branch, and leaders of Vietnam Airlines’ departments and boards.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Vice Chairman of the PPC Thai Van Thanh expressed his delight that Nghe An province and Vietnam Airlines signed the comprehensive cooperation agreement for the 2026 – 2030 period, while extending gratitude to the leaders and collective of Vietnam Airlines for always accompanying and supporting the province in image promotion, tourism development, and trade connection over the past time.
In the 2021 – 2025 period, the cooperative relationship between Nghe An and Vietnam Airlines achieved many positive results, especially in expanding flight routes, promoting the local image, and boosting economic and tourism development. The province expects that in the new period, the cooperation will be elevated to a higher, more effective, and more substantive level.
The Vice Chairman of the PPC stated that over the past time, Nghe An has created favorable conditions for Vietnam Airlines to expand its business activities, connect flight routes, and promote its brand. However, the province also acknowledged that the promotion support for the airline remains modest, and in the coming time, it will strengthen the dissemination of the Vietnam Airlines brand to citizens, businesses, and domestic as well as foreign partners coming to work in Nghe An.
Highly appreciating the companionship of Vietnam Airlines in supporting the opening of flight routes to Nghe An, Vice Chairman of the PPC Thai Van Thanh held that this is a highly meaningful support for the socio-economic development process, especially in promoting tourism, connecting trade, and promoting the local image both domestically and internationally.
Informing about the development orientation for the coming time, the Vice Chairman of the PPC said that Nghe An is deploying many strategic projects and works, such as the project to extend the runway at Vinh International Airport, the commencement of Cua Lo Deep-water Port; construction of the Vinh – Thanh Thuy Expressway connecting the Hanoi – Vientiane Expressway; development of the Quynh Lap LNG Thermal Power Plant project with the participation of major partners; expansion of the Cua Lo development space, and attraction of large corporations to invest in tourism and logistics. These projects are expected to open up new development space, enhancing international connectivity as well as travel and trade demands in the coming time.
Therefore, Nghe An province desires Vietnam Airlines to continue accompanying the province in promoting the image, brand, and tourism products of Nghe An on both domestic and international flights. The provincial leadership highly appreciates the professional and impressive promotion methods of Vietnam Airlines on flights, contributing to spreading the image of destinations to passengers.
In addition to domestic flight routes, Nghe An also proposed that Vietnam Airlines research opening more international routes, especially to South Korea, Japan, and China – markets with a large number of Nghe An people studying and working, while possessing substantial potential for tourism cooperation and investment.
The provincial leadership emphasized that aviation infrastructure and the flight route system are among the crucial factors for attracting Foreign Direct Investment (FDI). Therefore, the province will continue to coordinate to upgrade aviation infrastructure to meet the requirements of development and international integration in the coming period.
The Vice Chairman of the PPC expressed confidence that the comprehensive cooperation agreement for the 2026 – 2030 period will open up a new, deeper, and more effective cooperation phase between Nghe An and Vietnam Airlines, contributing to driving the province’s socio-economic development in the coming time.
Mr. Nguyen Quang Trung – Deputy General Director of Vietnam Airlines expressed his gratitude for the attention and support from the leaders of Nghe An province along with Departments, boards, and sectors to Vietnam Airlines over the past time, while highly appreciating the effectiveness of cooperation between the two sides in the previous period.
The Deputy General Director of Vietnam Airlines stated that in recent times, Vietnam Airlines has strongly expanded its flight network with 15 new international routes along with many domestic routes; simultaneously deploying various promotion and marketing activities for Vietnam tourism through overseas roadshow programs, tourism fairs, exhibitions, and the airline’s media ecosystem such as Heritage magazine and in-flight destination introduction videos.
For Nghe An, during the 2021 – 2026 cooperation period, the two sides coordinated to implement many meaningful activities such as organizing the welcoming of the first flight of the New Year, Famtrip and Presstrip delegations, and tourism promotion workshops; and promoting the tourism image of Nghe An in Heritage magazine as well as Vietnam Airlines’ media channels.
Vietnam Airlines has opened many additional flight routes connecting Vinh city with other localities across the country, such as Da Lat, Nha Trang, Buon Ma Thuot, Can Tho, Phu Quoc, etc., contributing to boosting trade and tourism development.
Expressing delight at the infrastructure, economic, and tourism development orientation of Nghe An province in the coming time, the leader of Vietnam Airlines trusted that the development of the flight route network along with destination promotion programs will create a synergy effect, enhancing the effectiveness of cooperation between the two sides in the new period.
Mr. Nguyen Quang Trung assessed Nghe An as one of the potential and highly competitive markets for Vietnam Airlines. Accordingly, flight routes to Vinh have always received positive attention and support from local people, demonstrating their trust in the Vietnam Airlines brand.
The leadership of Vietnam Airlines expressed their desire that the cooperative relationship between the People’s Committee of Nghe An Province and Vietnam Airlines will continue to develop sustainably and achieve many practical results in the coming time.
After discussions, the PPC and Vietnam Airlines reached an agreement that the cooperation between the two sides will cover communications, promotion, and Trade – Tourism – Aviation promotion; fostering the research, formation, and development of cooperative programs for product exchange, prioritizing the use of products within each other’s ecosystems, and building as well as stimulating demand for aviation tourism products; organizing and participating in annual cultural, sports, tourism, foreign affairs, investment, and trade promotion events during the 2026 – 2030 period; while simultaneously researching, surveying, expanding, and completing the flight route network to/from the province.
Phan Quynh
